A vast area of the UK is filled with beautiful scenery and landmarks that should be made the most of.
The Air Training Corps will organise several walks ranging from one day up to a week. Within the South West of England
and Wales are Dartmoor and Brecon Beacon Nation Parks but to name a few. These walks can be used for the Expedition
section of The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
 Hill Walking in the Lake District
There are many great locations to participate in either Rock Climbing or Abseiling, and even the climbing wall
equipment can be used within the ATC. Both of these activities provide a challenging experience for cadets and staff alike.

 Canoeing in the River Teign
Due to the great location Torquay is in there is the opportunity to go both canoeing (open) and kayaking (closed)
in both open water and rivers. Cadets can work towards skill qualifications and up to instructor level.
 Canoeing on Coniston Water
The Royal Air Force Walking and Road Marching Association (RAFWARMA) are set up to encourage the sport of Walking
and organise a 2-Day 50 Mile March at RAF Cosford open to both Civilian and Military walking teams. Cadet take part
in the 2-Day March in order to prepare for the 4-Day 100 Mile March in Nijmegan, Holland. Both events require much
prior training to ensure successful completion.
