This means that in addition to his previous roles as a Corporal, Ben will now be involved in more organisational duties on the Squadron . Posted on Sunday 26th October, 2008 Region Activities Day 2008 As a result of the success of 200 (Torquay) Squadron at the previous weekend's Wing Activities event, cadets from the Squadron travelled up to RAF Lyneham on Sunday 5 October 2008 to compete in the South West Region Activities Day as representatives for Devon and Somerset Wing. Here, Torquay Squadron took part in the Drill Competition, photography and aero-modelling against the five other wings in the region, with winners advancing to the Corps competition in November. In the end the Squadron Drill Team led by Cadet Warrant Officer Jamie Groom scored second place in the Drill Competition with Jamie picking up third place for Best Drill NCO. The South West Region Activities Day competitions always bring an outstanding level of performance from all involved and the Squadron was very pleased with its own effort but are keen to attend the competition next year with the desire to win it. Once again, well done to everyone who took part on the day. Posted on Wednesday 22nd October, 2008 Wing Activities Weekend 2008 Results The weekend of 27-28 September 2008 hosted the Devon and Somerset Wing Activities 2008. Squadrons from all over the wing gathered at Fremington Training Camp in North Devon to compete against each other in a number of competitions. 200 (Torquay) Squadron were successful in acheiving first place in five different events and and third place in another. Also, congratulations to Michael Gormley who has now been appointed as a Civilian Instructor with effect 15th August 2008. Michael was previously a cadet on the squadron rising to the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer then helped out as a Service Instructor whilst he was a member of Exeter University Officer Training Corps.
